CTC Working Weekend
September 2005

The CTC Working Weekend 2005 was held at Trerice Farm, St Allen and what a lovely weekend we had with people coming from near and far with their tractors, ploughs and cultivating equipment.
The ladies of the Club spent the weekend cooking all day breakfasts in the marquee, with pasties and other foods.

The weekend was a great success, we had lovely weather, lots of help and wonderful atmosphere. The men worked hard preparing the fields for ploughing, getting the water and the equipment for the cooking.

Willie Alford and the Hutchings brothers brought up the thrashing machine to thrash the corn cut at St Newlyn East – what a sight that was.

I know Willy's in there somewhere As it was thrashed so it was baled and taken away Its no use hiding now Willy!

The ladies worked hard cooking and preparing the food but we all thoroughly enjoyed it, the evening went down well with a pasty supper and a surprise karaoke, there was some lovely singing from one and all.

The Ladies had a well earned rest

And a bit of gossip

On Sunday the all day breakfast carried on and with fresh pasties for lunch. To our surprise we sold out of all the food. Dorothy made yeast buns in the marquee on both days and they all sold like “hot cakes”.

It was so nice to see the men enjoying themselves. There was no rush, they ambled about chatting, eating, drinking and of course ‘a bit of ploughing’.

And of course there was always something to look at and admire.
