Christmas Road Run
11th January 2004

On 11th January 2004, a cold but dry and very windy Sunday, 40 tractors left the London Inn car park at Summercourt for The Cornish Tractor Club’s annual New Year Road Run.
They headed right through Summercourt to venture past St Enoder Church, then to Troan and Retyn Farms. From here we turned left and headed for the pretty little ford at Cosworth.

On they went and headed for Mount Joy, Bosoughan and on to the picturesque Church of St Colan. From there it was on down the hill past the Porth Reservoir and the beautifully restored Mellancoose Mill with a pet duck on the pond. It was then up the windy hill to Trebarber to join the Newquay–St Columb road. Turning left towards Newquay they took the next right to the main St Mawgan Airfield entrance. Carrying on to the left of the Airfield they headed “up hill and down dale” to Trevelgue camping site and the Porth-Watergate road. Taking a left here they headed down the hill alongside Porth beach and on up the hill to the traffic lights where they joined the main road into Newquay.

Passing Tretherras School they then headed for Chester Road, The Boating Lake, Trevemper and on to the Bowgie Inn overlooking the beach at Crantock where 110 people sat down to a very welcome roast lunch.
