Christmas Road Run
January 9th 2005

The day started out very well at Summercourt for our Christmas Road Run which was a sponsored one for NACC, our charity for this year. It was dry and not too windy, but this was soon to change.
By midday when we got to Point Curlew, St Merryn for lunch it was lashing down with rain and very windy.

We left Summercourt at approx 10.30 and travelled along the A3058 towards Newquay, past Dairyland and turning left in Kestle Mill towards Trerice Manor. From there we headed for the ford at Legonna . All the tractors and four wheel drives made it through the river but the cars following had to divert around. From there it was on to Porth beach and the coast road taking us past Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth, Bedruthan Steps, Porthcothan Bay and on into St Merryn. The run was approximately 38 miles and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The run was led by Geoff Buscombe on his restored County. Amongst the tractors were Majors driven by Charlie Ferkin, Basil Coad, Morley Beard and David Tremain, T20 John Ferkin, Clive Ould with his Dexta and his son David with the 165. Leon Vanstone travelled down from Launceston with his Leyland Mini. Steve Vicary had his 65 and Nigel Philp his Allis Chalmers. The Lobb Brothers were well represented with Bernard with his Chamberlain, Peter and the David Brown, Debbie on the 5000, Kevin driving the 7000 with the trailer loaded with family and friends, and the TW35 driven by Gary. Andrew Stephens came with a MF35 and his mate Seth Brooks drove an International 250. Other Internationals were driven by Gary Hore BWD6, and John Knuckey with the 956. Don Symons brought his newly imported Massey 97. Paul Kemp came from St Austell with his 135 and J Tregunna brought his Dexta.  Dave Houghton also came up from Four Lanes,  Redruth with his David Brown

Thanks to Geoff and Bernard for organising an excellent run for us
