Laneast Working Weekend |
| The Cornish Tractor Club Eastern Area held a working weekend at Tilley Park, Laneast, near Launceston., Thanks go to Mr Martin Orchard for the use of his ground. The event was in aid of the Children's Hospice South West and was held on the 4th, 5th and 6 May 2003 and £700 was raised. The weather was not in our favour as it poured down all day Friday. Saturday was a better day and we had a good turnout. |
There was a ladies’ working section as demonstrated above
left. Alf Trethewey had a team stone hedging and there were quite a number of
tractors ploughing, harrowing, and enjoying themselves, which is what these events are all about. Sunday was the big day, as this was the day of the ploughing match. We had 53 tractors entered from as far away as Huddersfield, Lincolnshire, Bristol and Penzance. There was some excellent ploughing. Denis Harvey and the Kingsbridge boys supported us well, and a big “thank you” must go to the ploughing judges. |

Monday was another muck about day with everybody enjoying themselves, ploughing out the pieces left over from the
ploughing match and rolling harrowing, and tidying up the field for next year. Thank you all for supporting this event without you it would not be held. Thanks to the John Deere boys, Dave Tremain and Ricky who drove up from St Austell to support us. Thanks from all the eastern Area gang and see you all again next year. |
