Laneast Working Weekend
1st, 2nd and 3rd of May 2004

May the 1st, 2nd and 3rd 2004. It was held at Tilley Park, Laneast, near Launceston by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Martin Orchard
The weather was in our favour, we had an excellent weekend. We had about sixty acres available for the weekend. Saturday it was “a muck about” day with about fifty tractors ploughing, harrowing, rolling etc. Lots of people arriving getting their caravans, awnings and tents ready for the weekend. We had a lovely evening, using a barn on the farm, with good music and were able to have a chat with all our mates, lovely atmosphere.
Sunday was the day of the ploughing match with fifty-six tractors entered, but 105 tractors could be seen working in the ploughing match and the muck about area. We also had six teams of horses, what a sight that was.

Many thanks to Alfie Trethewy for organising the horses.

Monday was another muck about day with about forty tractors helping to plough out pieces left from the ploughing match and also the fore-ends and some tractors were harrowing and rolling.
All the weekend it was like a small rally, there were a few stalls, some stationary engines, cars and much more.
The money raised by this event will be donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Society later in the year, at the Winds of Change Hotel, South Petherwin.

Many thanks to all who supported us at this event. Next year 2005, the event will be held at the same place on the same dates and will be in memory of the late Bill Mason who was one of the Eastern Area team, who started this event about seven years ago an it will be in aid of The Macmillan Nurses.
