RALLY TROPHY WINNERS 2004 Thanks to everyone for making it such a nice weekend
It all started on the Monday evening with lots of help to put the
ropes up and get everything into the right place.
It took all week preparing for the 16th Annual Rally, which was on the 19th and 20th June at Ennis
Farm, Trispen, by kind permission of Mr Frank Matthews.
This years chosen charity is Multiple Sclerosis. On the Saturday the weather was sunny, lots to see and do, the
working section was busy with a lovely display with a Rack Saw bench and Case, a Field Marshall driving a Jones
Baler restored by Mike Wevell a Stone Crusher operated by Peter Lobb together with the modern
Saw bench from Boconnoc Estate. Well done to everyone involved. There were 125 tractors entered, more arriving on the
day, what a sight that was. The car section was well presented with 46 entered and there was a wonderful show
of 52 stationary engines. Mrs Gwen Pink was kept busy with the 61 entries for the motorcycles. Last but not
least there were 21 beautiful commercials
At the bottom of the field the smoke was flying, black of course. It was the tractor pulling! Well done, Bernard
and helpers, lots of interest there!
In the evening we went on a well thought out road run led by John Knuckey. It started out nice and warm but on
the way back it turned very cold. We went out of the Rally field and headed for Trispen on the back roads,
Bodrean down through the bottoms to Trehane, headed for five turnings, Killiserth over the by-pass and back to
the Rally field.
The craft and model section was well represented, everything was lovely. In the night it tipped down with rain.
The next morning was like the end of the world, everyone was down in the dumps, there was talk of cancelling
the band and it looked like it could be a washout, but by 10.30 everything was running again. I had to go home to
see to a very poorly cat, when I got back around 1.30 the sun was shining, the Band was playing, and there were
lots of people enjoying themselves. It turned out to be a lovely afternoon. I sat with lots of my family and
friends, we enjoyed cups of tea and wonderful cake, a very good display in the ring. Well done to all the
commentators.
